25 Verses Men Need to Read

Men. Put down your phones. Turn off the TV. Grab your Bible.

Did you know that it’s predicted that this year, an average American will consume 15.5 hours of media per day? Smart phones, tablets, television, radio, the Internet… there are so many avenues speaking into our lives.

Through these we learn what to eat, what to wear, what to look like, how to act, how to speak, you name it.

What’s worse, is that just because you think you have it figured out one minute, all of these questions and their answers can, and will, literally change within minutes. One minute the media is portraying manhood as soldiers rescuing refugees, the next it’s handing out awards to Caitlyn Jenner.

What men need, is a firm base that tells them WHO they are, and WHOSE they are. They need an unwavering, pure, infallible, place to rest their heads and seek truth. They need scripture to tell them how to act, how to speak, and how to love.

Let the Word of God shape you and mold you into the man God desires for you to be. Build your foundation on the rock of scripture, not the sand of the world.

  1. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love. -1 Corinthians 16:13-14
  2. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. -Titus 2:6-7
  3. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9
  4. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. -1 Timothy 6:11-12
  5. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. -Proverbs 27:17Depositphotos_26725747_original
  6. But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. -James 5:12
  7. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13
  8. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. -Ephesians 6:4
  9. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. -Colossians 3:19
  10. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. -Proverbs 21:3Symbol of law and justice in the empty courtroom, law and justice concept.
  11. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. -Jeremiah 29:13
  12. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. -1 Corinthians 15:58
  13. The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not be want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. -Psalm 23
  14. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. -Ephesians 5:23
  15. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. -Psalm 19:14Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain, Rio de Janeiro Brazil South America The statue stands 38 m (125 feet) tall and is located at the peak of the 710-m (2330-foot) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park, overlooking the city. As well as being a potent symbol of Christianity its open arms seen by many as a testament to the warmth of the Brazilian people.
  16. Blessed is the one  who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,   and who meditates on his law day and night. -Psalm 1:1-2
  17. But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. -1 Corinthians 11:3
  18. How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart;do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. -Psalm 119:9-11
  19. The Lord makes firm the steps  of the one who delights in him. -Psalm 37:23
  20. He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. -Micah 6:8beach, wave and footsteps at sunset time
  21. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
  22. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. -Philippians 2:3
  23. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. -Colossians 4:6
  24. Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. -1 Peter 3:13-17
  25. The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. -Proverbs 18:10Depositphotos_9000768_original
